Fun at the Farm

Fun at the Farm-er’s Markets

This month’s fun at the farm has been WAY too much fun to even take pictures, but you do get a glimps of all the markets and shows!

Everybody’s been working their tails off and it’s been worth it!  Especially to all the people who’ve picked up their Christmas goodies!  We’ve been especially lucky to have so many of you participate in our Facebook contests!  Thank you!

Not only do we get to give away a ton (tonne?) of prizes, we get to meet a ton of people, and there are hundreds of people getting to know us!  We LOVE it!

If you haven’t had a chance to come by one of the Christmas markets yet, we have a lot popping up in Calgary and Red Deer, so please come by and say, “HI!”

We love it when you do!  And, if you get a chance to take some video of yourself sampling the goodies, we’d love to see those too!  Share it on our Facebook page!

Fun Farmer’s Faces

Say that five times real fast and you’ll be smiling as much as these little farmers in the making.

The farm will full of squeals and giggles as all the kids ate pie, played in the park, ate ice cream and played some more.  They had a great time making money reselling their ice cream cones and buying them back again.  We’re not sure who ended up with it in the end, but there were smiles all around so clearly, it was a win/win negotiation.

There’s still plenty of sunshine left to go and visit the farmer’s markets around the province!  And, fortunately, there are farmer’s markets open all winter where you’ll be able to get your Pearson’s Berry Farm pies and goodies!

The Saskatoons are GONE!

All the Saskatoons for 2017 have been Picked

Even with record crop of Saskatoon berries in the orchard, they have all been picked and the U-Pick is now complete.  (Sorry if you missed it.)

We would like to thank you all for coming out to the farm, picking the berries, having pie and ice cream, and even participating in our family day with free hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire. Thank you and we hope you all had a great time.

You can still come out and visit us, as the cafe is open until the end of August for you to purchase our baked goods and get ice cream!

New Insentives

All kinds of craziness going on now that “Summer” is in full swing!  Duane has been running around the country like a madman.  The bakery has been running double time.  And, mother nature is doing her thing to make the farm a beautiful place to visit.  Oh, not to mention all the work going on to get you a new website, a new look and feel and of course more connection with you!  Ok, so our fun at the farm may look like work at the farm from the outside, but we all love what we do so it’s actually been a lot of fun!

We’ve been getting a lot of feedback letting us know that our community is loving the flavour of the month, the contests and the Location Near You.  All of these new incentives have come from you and our readers letting us know what they love and what they want more of, so if you have any ideas make sure you’re sharing them with us on Facebook, Twitter or email.  We do answer all of your messages because we love getting them!

Planning Our Makeover

I’m sure you’re aware of it already, but around here we do things a little differently.  When we decided to update our systems to make us more accessible online we did it the way we always do things.  We gathered together around the table and discussed what was important to us.  And, granted it didn’t all get done in an hour.  Sometimes we sat outside, sometimes we were in the living room, sometimes we were in the kitchen (ok that was mostly Deb), sometimes we were around the dining room table and sometimes we were by the bonfire.

Yes, even our business meetings are done in the most familial way.  Everyone came in from out of town, and some “virtually” commuted.  All in all, everyone had their input and we truly hope that you’re happy with the results, after all,  we did it to make it easier for you to be part of our family.

If you like something, let us know!  And, if you don’t like something, let us know!

That’s just the way we get things done around here. 🙂

Priorities

In our brainstorming, we had a few priorities…but it all came down to one thing.
How do we make our community more inclusive?

We broke the possibilities down into a few groups.

  1. Expand Our Community
  2. Make it Easier for People to Find Us
  3. Bring Them More of What They Want

From there we found this to be quite the challenge, in fact, there were a few of them.

The Challenges

  1. Make Our Messaging Clear
  2. Get Information to the People Who Want it
  3. Make Our Community Interactive

We think we did a pretty good job of it!  And we know You can help make it even better!

A Few New Ideas

We came up with a lot of ideas but we narrowed them down into the few we think you’ll like the best.

  1. Exposing All the Product Lines – Bringing them all to the website for you to search and purchase
  2. Giving Taglines to Each Product Line – Making it easier to understand how our products all fit into your meals
  3. Setting up Locations Near You on email and text – Making it easier to find out when we’re close and convenient to you
  4. Something Fresh! – Our monthly update on cool new things like Flavour of the Month
  5. Contests* – ‘Cause who doesn’t like winning free stuff!?!? We have some super fun, super silly, and ostentatiously appropriate contests coming up.  Na!   Who are we trying to kid? They’re all fun!

We hope you like it!  We hope you like it so much that you share this on FaceBook, Twitter, with your friends and all of your social media!
Well, all the ones that like to eat anyway.
